For Renters
Affordable, nice, family sized apartments in Northern Rhode Island are not as rare as you might think. WNDC has renovated over one hundred of them, and has another hundred or so in the planning stages. We build family friendly apartments with unique designs and details that will make you proud to call them home.
All our apartments are lead-safe or lead-free. They have spacious family rooms and dining areas, new kitchens with new refrigerators and stoves, individual washer and dryer hook-ups in most apartments [no more bringing home the neighbors socks!], off-street parking, yards for gardening, new baths. Ceiling fans are standard.
In addition to renting a quality apartment, you can be part of a great neighborhood. We have built a bright, bustling community center‹the Chaplin-Perez Center‹which can be rented for a nominal fee for your larger family gatherings. It also houses a State licensed after-school program and many other programs and initiatives for parents and children.
We also run an art program with the State's only 'Neighborhood Artist-In-Residence'. We offer summer jobs programs for youth, and special recreation and education programs to boost school achievement and success. There are regular community celebrations that are planned and organized by residents. We strongly encourage your active participation in the Resident's Association and in the community.
We have also designed some special apartments for home childcare providers. These apartments provide separate living and working spaces so you can get your State Home Childcare license, earn some extra income, help meet the community's need for quality childcare, and maintain some privacy for your family.
